HADES AND THE LOST SOUL
Deep within
the shadowy realm of the Underworld, Hades sat upon his obsidian throne, his
piercing eyes watching over the endless river of souls flowing into his domain.
He was neither cruel nor kind—only just, ensuring the natural order was
maintained.
One day, a
soul arrived at the gates of the Underworld, but unlike the others, it did not
know where it belonged. It was a warrior who had died in battle but had no
memory of his deeds or even his own name. Confused and restless, the soul
wandered the banks of the River Styx, searching for answers.
Persephone,
Hades’ queen, noticed the wandering spirit and approached her husband.
"This soul does not belong among the lost," she said gently.
"There must be a reason for its confusion."
Hades,
intrigued, summoned the Fates to reveal the warrior’s story. The Fates spun
their golden thread, revealing that the warrior had been cursed to forget his
past because he had broken an oath to the gods.
With a heavy
sigh, Hades turned to the soul. "You have been judged," he said.
"Your punishment was to forget, but your courage in battle was great.
Drink from the Lethe, and you shall be reborn, given a second chance to prove
your worth."
The warrior obeyed, sipping from the river of forgetfulness. As he vanished into the cycle of life once more, Hades returned to his throne, watching as fate continued its endless weave. For even in the depths of the Underworld, justice was never blind.
